Privacy policy
Product Jimmy is a 1:1 product management mentoring business run by me, James Nicholls, as a sole trader in Sydney, Australia. This policy explains what personal information I collect through productjimmy.com and my mentoring programs, why I collect it, and what you can do about it.
What I collect
When you sign up for the LIFT guide or take the PM Readiness Score quiz
- Your name and email address.
- Your quiz answers and results: your score, your weakest area, your career stage and your goal.
When you book a call or a session
- Your name, email address and anything you choose to tell me in the booking form.
When you buy a program
- Your name, email address and billing details. Payments are processed by Stripe. I never see or store your full card number.
During mentoring
- Anything you share with me in sessions or by email, such as your resume, LinkedIn profile, work examples, career goals, and information about your company and products.
- The written session packs I prepare for you.
When you browse the site
- Usage data through Google Analytics: pages visited, how you arrived (for example from Google or LinkedIn), your approximate location (city level), and your device and browser. See Cookies and analytics below.
Why I collect it
- To send you the resources you asked for, such as the LIFT guide and your quiz results.
- To send you occasional emails with product career advice and information about my programs. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click.
- To book, run and follow up on your calls and mentoring sessions.
- To take payment and keep records I’m required to keep for tax purposes.
- To understand how people use the site so I can improve it.
I don’t use your information for anything else without asking you first.
What you share in mentoring stays confidential
Anything you tell me about your company, your product, your colleagues or your career is kept strictly confidential. I only use it to prepare and run your sessions. I never share it with anyone else, and I never use it as an example or case study without your written permission.
I don’t record sessions. If that ever changes, I’ll ask for your permission first.
Who I share it with
I use a small number of trusted services to run the business. Each one only gets the information it needs:
- Framer: Hosts this website. Data may be stored in the United States or EU.
- MailerLite: Sends the LIFT guide, quiz results and my emails. Data is stored in the EU.
- Stripe: Processes payments. Data may be stored in the United States or Australia.
- Calendly: Books calls and sessions. Data is stored in the United States.
- Google: Google Meet for sessions, Google Analytics for the website, and email. Data may be stored in the United States or elsewhere.
Some of these services store data outside Australia. I choose providers with strong security and privacy practices. By using the site and my services, you consent to your information being handled by these providers.
I never sell, rent or trade your personal information. I would only disclose it if the law requires me to.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses Google Analytics cookies to see how visitors find and use it. Ad and advertising-personalisation cookies are always turned off.
When you first visit, a banner asks you to accept or decline analytics cookies:
- Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland: analytics cookies stay off unless you click Accept.
- Visitors elsewhere: analytics is on by default, and you can click Decline to turn it off.
Your choice is saved in your browser. Change your cookie choice. You can also install Google’s opt-out add-on.
How long I keep it
- Email list: until you unsubscribe. After that I keep only what’s needed to make sure you don’t get emailed again.
- Mentoring notes and session packs: for up to 2 years after our last session, so we can pick up where we left off if you come back. You can ask me to delete them sooner.
- Payment and tax records: for 5 years, as required by Australian tax law.
- Analytics data: 14 months.
Keeping it secure
I protect your information with secure, reputable services, strong passwords and two-factor authentication on my accounts. No system is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me to:
- tell you what personal information I hold about you
- correct anything that’s wrong
- delete your information, unless I’m legally required to keep it
- stop sending you emails (or just click “unsubscribe” in any email)
If you’re in the EU or UK, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability and to object to processing. Where analytics relies on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Email jimmy@productjimmy.com and I’ll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how I’ve handled your information, please email me first and I’ll do my best to fix it. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au. If you’re in the EU or UK, you can contact your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
